For RENTAL ASSISTANCE, there are two programs:
1. First month's rent and/or deposit assistance: Only available in domestic violence situations, disasters, or when being released from an institution (jail, hospital, or other facility) after 90 days. May call anytime for screening. Please ask for a case manager and state that you are in such a situation.
2. Back rent:
-Will need proof of hardship and proof of income (or projected income). Please call repeatedly the first Monday of the month @ 8:30 a.m. (if Monday is a holiday, please call Tuesday)
-Back rent program also includes contract for deed and lot rent for trailers.

Mortgage Assistance (principle & interest only; no late fees or escrow/taxes):
-Applicant will need proof of hardship, income (or projected income), and some sort of statement from the lender about delinquent payment. Please call repeatedly the first Monday of the month @ 8:30 a.m. (if Monday is a holiday, please call Tuesday)

Peoria County resident, and-
*Water Assistance: Must be a customer of Illinois American Water and sewer bills are not included. Must have a disconnection notice. Will still consider those who have been disconnected too (but account cannot be closed). May call at any time.
*Rent: Must be facing loss of housing, be fleeing domestic violence, have experienced a disaster (e.g., a fire), or be exiting an institution (jail, hospital, or other facility) after 90 days.
*Electric/Gas Assistance (Warm Neighbors, Cool Friends for Ameren Illinois customers): For moderate-income people in crisis situation (those with low incomes must go to PCCEO or Peoria Township Relief). Please see specific income guidelines and further eligibility guidelines here: https://www.warmneighborscoolfriends.org
PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING COOLING MONTHS (June through September) THE FOLLOWING ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES APPLY (in addition to meeting income eligibility):

Description
The Salvation Army administers the Warm Neighbors, Cool Friends program to assist Ameren customers in the mid-income range.

-Driver's License or other Photo I.D. -Copy of current Ameren Illinois utility bill (Do NOT need a shut-off notice) -Must provide short explanation of a personal or family crisis/barrier (NO paper documentation is required and NOT a requirement for seniors)
Eligibility
Program Rules
-Applicant must reside at address on bill and have active service in his or her name
-Applicant can only receive assistance once per heating season (October 1st -May 31st) and once in the cooling season (June 1st-September 30th)
-Must provide short explanation of a personal or family crisis/barrier (NO paper documentation is required and NOT a requirement for seniors)
-Program targeting only customers between 200-350% of poverty
-Household must meet income guidelines listed here: warmneighborscoolfriends.org
