Description:
The Fulton County Health Department administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the county. LIHEAP provides energy assistance for eligible low income families in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of eligible households, or directly to renters if the utility costs are included in their rent. The benefit amount will be credited to the households primary winter heating source (gas vs. electric). The program can also occasionally assist with furnaces.

FOR THE PRIORITY GROUPS LISTED BELOW, the energy assistance department will begin scheduling appointments for LIHEAP on September 17th, 2024. You may call or come to the health department in person to schedule an appointment.
Appointments will be conducted via phone call starting on October 1, 2024.
OCTOBER 2024 LIHEAP PRIORITY GROUPS
*Disconnected or Have a Disconnection Notice, or have less than 25% in their propane tank
*Seniors age 60 and older
*People/household member with a disability
*Families with children age five and under

All other income eligible households can start applying November 1, 2024.

At/Below 200% Federal Poverty Level. The benefit amount is based on the eligible household's last 30-days income, amount of utility bills, and type of heating source.
