Dream Center - Homelessness Diversion

Description:

Dream Center Peoria offers a homelessness diversion program that can help prevent a person or family from having to enter an emergency shelter or a place not meant for habitation by covering the following needs:

*Utility or water bills totaling $500 or less, when the household has a shut-off notice and will face homelessness if the bill is not paid. The household must also have a means of current or prospective income that will cover the expense going forward once assistance is provided.
*Transportation, including out of town, when a person or family has an alternative living situation (friends, family, etc.) available and needs transportation assistance to get there

Hours:

Diversion team is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Eligibility:

Anyone in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, or Fulton County who is at risk of Category 1 (shelter or place not meant for habitation) homelessness

AND

*For utility or water assistance, must have a shut-off notice and current or prospective income to cover expenses going forward

*For transportation, must have an alternative living situation (friends, family, etc.) available and need assistance to get there
