The Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN), a project of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, provides civil legal services across Illinois for military personnel, veterans, and their families. Common areas of legal assistance include discharge upgrades, benefits appeals, and civil legal problems like Family, Housing, and Consumer issues. IL-AFLAN is a network comprised of over 10 legal aid organizations and law school clinics.
When calling please be prepared to speak with an attorney. This means having any relevant documents in front of you and setting aside enough time to discuss your case. At current call times, most callers will speak to a lawyer in five minutes or less. Just pay attention to the phone prompts. If call volume is unusually high, the caller will be able to schedule a call-back after ten minutes of waiting.
