The Salvation Army-Pekin-2023 Christmas Programs and Coats

Description:

The Salvation Army Pekin offers three Christmas programs for Tazewell County:
-Toys for households with children (newborn through 12 years old) in Tazewell County
-Food baskets for any household
-Coats for any household

Hours:

*As of mid-December 2023, those interested may still call regarding the Christmas toy and food programs, as well as coats, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Winter coats will remain available until the end of January 2024.

Required Documents for Toy Sign-Up:
-Photo ID for person applying
-Birth certificate or paper medical card for ALL children in the household
-Link card (or proof of income for ALL adults in the household)

For Households without Children, Only Seeking a Food Box and/or Coat:
-ID and proof of current Tazwell County address

ADDITIONAL OPTION FOR SIGNING UP FOR FOOD BASKETS:

The Salvation Army partners with The Peoria Journal Star each year to distribute food baskets. Money donated to the Journal Star Christmas Fund goes toward purchasing the items for the food boxes that are given out to help area families in need during the holiday season. Last year, the Journal Star Christmas Fund donated more than 4,000 food baskets.

If you cannot come during the days they offer in-person sign-ups, you may write a brief letter explaining the need for a food basket. Please include the following in your letter:

Your name
Address with apartment number
Phone number where you can be reached
Total number of people in household
Mail letter to: Journal Star Christmas Fund, P.O. Box 5489, Peoria, IL 61601-5306
