Septic System Abandonment Permits

Programs that issue permits which provide written authorization for property owners who want to permanently discontinue use of their on-site wastewater treatment (septic) system, to close and abandon their system, generally in situations where they have received permission to connect to the municipal sewer system. Once approved, all system components including the tank, cesspool, pits, overflows and "drywell" components must be pumped out and properly disposed of per local regulations. Septic system abandonment must generally be performed by a registered contractor.

Septic System Installation Permits

Programs that issue permits which provide written authorization for the installation of on-site systems that are designed to treat and dispose of domestic sewage. A typical septic system consists of an underground tank for sewage treatment, and a drainfield or leachfield for water dispersal into the soil.
