Programs that provide assistance that deals broadly with the concept of accountability and help nonprofit organizations, small businesses and other groups understand the responsibilities associated with their status; develop acceptable policies, procedures and practices; adhere to applicable rules and regulations; and manage their programs in an exemplary way. Responsibilities of nonprofit organizations include publication of programmatic and financial information and statistics and board membership lists, development and adoption of internal control and conflict of interest policies, and timely and accurate completion and filing of appropriate tax-exempt reports that will enable the public to review the use of the organization's funds relative to their stated mission and purpose.
