With care that is available 24 hours a day, Petersen Health Care offers a friendly, yet supervised, environment that is designed to keep your loved one safe and to maintain their quality of life as much as possible. Alzheimerâs and dementia are difficult for everyone. Residents need special compassion and understanding as their functions change, and the staff must be able to accommodate these changes. Family members need education as to the nature of these diseases and help in dealing with the changes that may occur. Security is also an important issue because those who no longer remember details end up lost and confused if they are somehow able to wander outside their home. These are just some of the issues that should be assessed. Description
Each of our homes offers a licensed nursing staff with skills above and beyond the requirements of a typical Medicaid skilled nursing facility. Highly educated, our staff is able to meet a variety of health care needs, including rehabilitation, dementia/Alzheimerâs care, and others as may be required at various stages of life. Once the decision has been made that 24-hour care is necessary and must be provided by a skilled nursing facility rather than assisted care (for more information on the differences, go to our FAQs) selecting the right home will be an important decision. Unfortunately, this decision is often made in a difficult or crisis situation. If at all possible, itâs important to visit several homes â perhaps more than once â so that you can evaluate whether it will suit the needs of your loved one.
