Founded in 1921, the Heart of Illinois United Way brings together people from business, labor, government, and health and human services to address community needs. Money raised through the Heart of Illinois United Way campaign stays in the community, funding programs and services in Marshall, Peoria, Putnam, Stark, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties.

Description
The Heart of Illinois United Ways recruits and places volunteers for several programs:
-United Way Day of Caring... (Friday, September 9, 2016)
Projects range from hands-on needs such as painting and landscaping to serving meals and reading to preschool students.
-Year-Round Group/Team Building Volunteer Opportunities
The United Way can arrange for group volunteer projects throughout the year. It will collect basic details about a volunteer group, and then contact partner agencies to find project ideas for your group.
-YOUTH UNITED
This program offers area high school and college students the opportunity connect with each other while learning about how the United Way is making a positive impact on central Illinois.
-GENeration United
The GENeration United program offers volunteer and leadership opportunities to young leaders age 23 to 45,.
-Annual Campaign
Opportunities range from organizing a workplace campaign and fundraiser(s) to serving on the campaign cabinet.
-United Way Allocation Process
More than 100 volunteers help each year review United Way grant applications and United Way-funded programs.
-AFL-CIO Labor Volunteers
The Heart of Illinois United Way offers volunteer opportunities for local union members.
