Description:
The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a self-help, non-profit, advocacy group for those with mental illnesses and their supporters. The alliance was founded in 1979 because of a lack of support for people experiencing brain disorders. NAMI operates 1,100 affiliates nationally. NAMI Tri-County is one of 41 different affiliates in Illinois.
Hours:
In-person support groups are held the Third Thursday of all months except December, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in Poplar Hall at Illinois Central College-Peoria Campus (5407 N. University, Peoria). The in-person support groups are as follows--
Connections: Support group for individuals in recovery/who experience a mental health condition--Room 127 of Poplar Hall
Family Support Group: For family and friends of people with mental health conditions--Room 132 of Poplar Hall
