A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) is part of Habitat for Humanity's Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. It is a nation-wide program serving low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. This initiative is a holistic approach, assisting communities as well as individual families. It is designed to revitalize the appearance of a neighborhood, encourage connections within the community, and most importantly, help preserve affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Peoria Area focuses on exterior home repair services such as:

-Exterior Painting
-Minor Exterior Repairs
-Landscaping/Clean-Up
-Accessibility Repairs

*PLEASE NOTE THAT ROOF, FOUNDATION, WINDOW, AND OTHER MAJOR REPAIRS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS PROGRAM.

Main Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Varies depending on the scope of the project/repairs.

Eligibility:

-Must be 65 years old, Disabled, or a Veteran; and live in Marshall, Peoria, Tazewell, or Woodford County
-Must live in an owner-occupied, single-family home
-Must have homeowners insurance
-Must be unable to afford the necessary improvements and/or unable to complete the tasks due to age, disability, or circumstance
-House income must be less than 60% of the area median income (please see website for more details)
-Must be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Peoria Area through Sweat Equity and/or installment plans as agreed upon in the Scope of Work Agreement
-Must be present and engaged at the time of the project and all able-bodied residents must assist volunteers on the repairs
