-Minimum age of 18
-High school graduate or GED
-Have a desire to serve others
-In good physical and mental health
-Willing to make a time commitment averaging 4 hours per week for a minimum of 100 hours per assignment after onboarding
-Can abide by the policies and regulations of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Volunteer Services Department

-Currently attending high school, college or working on a GED
-Agree to remain a volunteer from June 5 - August 6, 2016
-Agree to volunteer a minimum of seven weeks out of the nine week program
-Agree to volunteer one day per week (same day, time and area) for duration of program
-Able to volunteer in 3-4 hour shifts
-Complete an online self-study orientation
-Attend an in-person review session on either the evening of June 1, 2016 or the morning of June 4, 2016
-Abide by the policies and regulations of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center and Volunteer Services Department

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center offers volunteer opportunities for individuals with highly trained animals who wish to bring comfort to patients; reduce patient stress, anxiety, pain, and blood pressure; and increase patient social interaction and communication.

Eligibility
-Your dog should consistently perform the following with one command:
-Sit on command
-Down on command
-Stay and recall on command
-Walk loosely on a leash without pulling, even when excited or in a new environment
-Get along well with other dogs
-Able to perform commands without treats
-Must be currently certified by Alliance of Therapy Dogs (formerly Therapy Dogs Inc.) or Therapy Dogs International.
-Dog should like people
-Not be overly vocal
-Have no food or possession issues
-Should not have separation anxiety issues
-Dog needs to be at least one year of age
-Handlers must be 18 years or older
-Dog must be up to date on all vaccinations
-Dog must be free of all skin problems
Dog must have year around flea, tick, and heartworm protection
